Our client aimed to create a world that fused the Alfred Hitchcock films Psycho and The Birds alongside their new fall winter collections for 2006. Produced in Roseland Ballroom, the runway articulation called for an environmental approach because of the spatial layout and flow.
Pitched as a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, the dual-runway environment brought Y-3 into the world of Hitchcock. The audience entered along a gloss-black, coal-slag walkway. Stuffed black ravens perched on a massive gnarled oak tree. At the top of show a black show curtain concealed the main model entrance. Following a resounding sound scape introduction, the curtain parted to reveal a towering, shattered window pane, out of which the models entered, and on which a dramatic video montage was displayed through the show.
